OK, this may be a little long-winded, but here goes. What follows uses FLAC w/default settings.
I have a 2-disc compilation (Bread – Retrospective, 1996 – Rhino Records) that includes a 12-digit Barcode. When I inserted the first CD, EZAC was able to identify the album Title and Artist, but showed “No cover image available”. Here is what happened.
• I entered the 12-digit Barcode, got the green checkmark, clicked “OK”, and the response came back “Unknown title” and “Unknown artist” (this has happened before with a few other CDs, but after several Barcode entries those CDs were finally identified). I did the Barcode entry 4 times and got the same responses – “Unknown title”, “Unknown artist” and “No cover image available”.
• I then tried the Title and Artist entries several times and got the same responses - “Unknown title”, “Unknown artist” and “No cover image available”.
• I finally settled on “Inserted CD” (with “No cover image available”) and was able to rip everything even though EZAC couldn’t confirm this was a 2-Disc CD (which I was able to correct by renaming the Discs…so no big deal about this).
• In no case shown was “cover image available”.
• 27 of the 28 tracks I selected were ripped “error free”. All of them sound excellent.
Since I’d like to have the album cover available (I replay everything through my home system using my OPPO’s USB port and 55” monitor), I googled the Artist, Title and “album cover”, found numerous images, and downloaded a JPG. I renamed the file to “cover” and copied to my FLAC file. The JPG appears nearly identical to other “cover” files in my other FLAC files when examined using Windows 7 “Property” function (file name, file size, “opens with”, pixels, etc).
• EZAC doesn’t show this cover.
What am I missing or doing wrong – and how can I display cover art?
Regardless of the outcome here, I’m totally satisfied with EZAC.
